NINASAM'S
AAKAASHABUTTI
(Kannada)

2 Hours 30 Minutes (with interval)

Aakaashabutti weaves together three of Jayant Kaikini’s own stories - Aakaashabutti, Antahpuradolage, and Mithun Number 2. The first is the story of struggle of a lower middle-class family living in a Mumbai chawl. The second tells of what happens when an outsider, Parul, enters the life of a lower middle class family. And the third story follows the travails of a young boy who comes to Mumbai hoping to make it big in films, and ends up as the hero’s double. The three interwoven stories throw open the complexities of human life in the magical city of Mumbai where hardships coexist with a dynamic zest for life. The play records how even in the most disheartening moments, the human spirit spurts with a new lease of life. The play is directed by renowned theatre director Raghunandana for the people of Heggodu.
